MOONLIT RIVER - the artists
Not a performer himself, songwriter FRED MOOLTEN has been fortunate in the extraordinary talent of those who have brought his songs to life in "Moonlit River" as well as his acclaimed first album, "The Way We Are". A student of the legendary Rev. Gary Davis, ERNIE HAWKINS has been called "one of the most accomplished and impressive acoustic guitarists of our time". Daughter of noted Hammond B-3 player Barry Hindmarsh, singer LISA HINDMARSH has earned her own accolades for her skillfully nuanced interpretations and emotional expressiveness. Critically acclaimed singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and
producer other notable contributors to Moonlit River include: Max Leake (pianist and composer, who has worked with Roger Humphries, Stanley Turrentine, Rebecca Parris and many others) Brian Stahurski (bass - recently returned from world tour with jazz trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson) Nelson Harrison (trombonist, composer, lyricist, who has played with many of the greatest names in jazz, including two years touring with Count Basie) Pete Freeman (much in demand for the special sounds his pedal steel and dobro contribute to an ensemble performance) George Heid (drums - member of an illustrious musical family that included father George Sr. and brothers Bill and Jim) Dino DiStefano (sound engineer for 1997 Grammy Award winning performance by the Count Basie Orchestra, as well as other Grammy nominated recordings) |
